Celebrate life and prosperity

March 27, 2010 by Andrea Mrozek 7 Comments

Be thankful for our wealth and prosperity. Don’t waste it. But don’t join the dark side this earth hour, either. Join me in turning many lights on, in thankfulness for the wealth I have and can share with others less fortunate.

I think there’s a lot to be said for intentional stewardship of creation, and challenging the excess consumerism of our society. For me its just a nice reminder to stop and think about the resources I use before I use them, and bring my reusable bags when I go shopping, turn off lights and appliances when I’m not using them, etc.

Just because we have the wealth and resources doesn’t mean we should be so quick to use them. Sometimes its good to have some time to be reflective of the things we do and choices we make.

    Gotta go find my candles…

By the way, I don’t see what this has to do with being prolife/prowoman…

Candles are worse for the environment than lightbulbs.

    In answer to Rebekah,

Its good to be a ‘good steward’. The connection between ‘Earth Day’ and abortion, is that at the policy making level nationally and spectacularly at the UN, the ‘Earth Day’ good stewardship arguments are used to promote population control around the world. Vulnerable countries needing economic aid are the primary targets of the UN push for abortion and homosexuality (also good for population control). (see latin America,Caribbean,Africa for specific campaigns)

Of course its perfectly fine to recycle and be aware of over-consumption, as long one does not see ‘people’ as the enemy, aborton and homosexuality as the solution, and ‘green’ as the vehicle.

Gays/Greens/radicalFeminists have very successfully joined their political acumen and influence, the result of which we see daily in our public education, media and gov’t policies.

THanks, Lwestin! You answered for me.

I’m not saying everyone who likes Earth Hour is in favour of population control. But at least some the people behind these movements are.

Plus, I’d also add that not every post at PWPL has something to do with abortion, and need not. It’s just that that one did, counterintuitive though it may be.

There was story in our local paper about Earth Hour celebrations downtown.
I laughed my head off when I read about a family that turned off the lights, and then jumped in the car and drove 25 km to attend the festivities!
Saved (maybe) 3 cents on hydro and spent a few dollars pumping GHG’s!
    How stupid can you get?
